The Iconic Wedding of

Saoirse Monica Jackson

& Hector Barbour

When Saoirse-Monica Jackson first crossed paths with Hector Barbour (better known to fans as DJ Denis Sulta), the world was in lockdown. Their first dates were quiet moments stolen along the canal at Broadway Market, drinks in hand, trading life stories as bustling street vendors set the scene.

Fast forward a few years, to a windswept Donegal beach, where Hector proposed to Saoirse with a custom-made ring from Blair and Sheridan in Glasgow. “The best part was that he wrote everything down that he said to me,” Saoirse recalls. “You sort of black out in the moment - so having those words to read back means the world.”

A sharp pivot from the Crocs and Dry Robes that they were wearing for their seaside engagement, Saoirse and Hector’s wedding day had statement fashion at the forefront.

Saoirse-Monica Jackson, best known for her role as Erin Quinn in the hit series Derry Girls, wove subtle nods to the show into her wedding day. Her co-star and close friend Jamie-Lee O’Donnell stood by her side as a bridesmaid, and Saoirse walked down the aisle to a live cover of Dreams by The Cranberries – performed by Irish traditional music superstar collective BIIRD.

Guided by the energy of a Celtic warrior princess, Saoirse leaned into Irish and Scottish designers wherever possible. She wore bespoke emerald jewellery by Eily O’Connell to complement her bridesmaids’ green Rat & Boa gowns, and she gifted her bridesmaids custom creations by Fada, another Irish designer.

Style, heritage, and symbolism were all woven into Saoirse’s statement wedding dress. Drawing inspiration from a Dior runway piece and a Zendaya look from Annie’s Ibiza, she worked with Annie to create a couture dress that featured puffed sleeves, lace, and a reversible corset with tartan lining that represented her new Scottish family. Before Saoirse stepped down the aisle, her wedding planner, Tara Fay, sewed heirloom brooches from both families on to the dress with a blue silk thread - Saoirse’s ‘something blue’.

Their wedding day was a true reflection of passion and artistry, filled with emotion and unforgettable style. Lilac details were laced throughout the day to honour Saoirse’s late grandmother, and entertainment from their close friend  Jimi The Kween kept guests spellbound. The couple’s first dance to BIIRD’s moving cover of Beeswing set the tone for a night where love, laughter, and music carried everyone onto the dance floor until the early hours.

Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Hector Barbour’s wedding stands as one of Ireland’s most unforgettable love stories.

“Everybody said that the whole weekend was like something from a movie, and it really was,” says Saoirse.

“I want to do it again!”
